June came and went in a blur for me. I'm having a hard time believing July will greet us this weekend. The summer is flying by way too fast! Since my last post we went camping overnight in the mountains as a family, celebrated Father's Day with Dave, I went to girls' camp with the young women in our church, Grandma Carr came out for a two week visit (and to help watch Miles while I was at girls' camp), Dave started his internship at BYU for the summer, and we've started de-junking our house so we don't have as much to move to Kansas. Whew! Here are some pictures from all of our fun.

At girls' camp I was in charge of the crafts for the week and also the decorations for our campsite. I was a little stressed out about all of it ahead of time, but I'm so glad I had the opportunity to go this year and really had a great time with the young women of our ward and also the other leaders! I had a lot of great laughs! I think my crafts went over well with the girls, for the most part. We didn't quite get to all of them I had planned, but now we have something to do one of these Tuesday evenings for an activity when things settle down a bit! The camp theme this year was "Light the Torch" and we followed an Olympic theme by each ward picking a country (we picked Germany) and having trading pins (we made clay pretzels) to give to the other campers. I learned so much and grew so much closer to the girls and leaders in our ward. It was a fantastic experience and I'll miss everyone so much when we move in a month!
We've taken advantage of having Grandma around by getting a few things done in preparation for our upcoming big move, but we did manage to squeeze in a little fun as well.
Although our backyard isn't very big, it can still provide hours of fun as long as there is a pool back there! The other day it was hot enough that we drug out Miles' little pool and filled it up. Miles had a ton of fun and asks, "water?" all of the time, even early in the morning when it is still chilly outside. I'm so glad he enjoys the water and has a blast playing in it!
As mentioned in the previous post, we did a lot of fun things during our first week of summer break. Not only did we visit Trafalga, but a couple of days later Dad joined Miles and I for playgroup at the splash pad in Spanish Fork. I think Dave was nervous to be hanging out with a bunch of moms, but he ended up hanging out with Miles mainly while I chatted with the moms! It was so nice for me! It was a nice day, but not really quite warm enough yet for splash pad activity. The water was really cold and after a while Miles was the one asking to go home. He was so cold and basically his whole body was convulsing. Poor guy!

Last week we also took Miles to Seven Peaks (a water park). The wind/breeze again made it fairly chilly so we didn't stay long. Good thing we have that pass so that it doesn't cost us anything to go each time! He had a blast and keeps asking if we can go play in the water again. I didn't get any pictures of that adventure though because the logistics of it isn't all that easy. It is a huge water park!
On Friday I had the opportunity to go with the young women in our church to their camp kick-off. Our church has an annual girls' camp during the summer and in preparation for those four days away from home they get to go to an overnight kick-off. The lady that is in charge of the young women group in our church has a cabin up by Park City, Utah so we go there every year. It is always a lot of fun. I haven't been able to go to camp in years past because of my job, but this year I am going and I'm so excited. I've been put in charge of doing crafts while we are at camp which has been a little stressful for me, but overall I'm having a blast figuring out what crafts will be fun for the girls, etc. At the kick-off we did a couple of my crafts so that they are ready to go in time for camp. I think the girls enjoyed the crafts and they turned out great.

One of our crafts was to make trading pins for all of the girls and leaders that are at camp. Our theme for camp is "Light the Torch" and we are kind of going along with an Olympic theme. Our specific church group picked Germany as our country and so we wanted our trading pins to represent Germany. We decided to make pretzels out of clay. I think they turned out great and I'm sure all of the girls that are at camp will appreciate them. We had to make 150 of those pretzels though so it was nice to have all of our girls help me make them!

We also made lanterns out of canning jars. They all have such great imaginations and each jar turned out so cute! These lanterns will be so neat to use at camp! I'm excited to see them in action.

The rest of the kick-off was filled with food, laughter, and camp preparations. It didn't involve much sleep though. I'm starting to feel old and had to take a really long nap when we got back to recuperate!
Camp is exactly two weeks from today! I hope I can get all of the preparations done for the crafts in time!
