School pictures

Every year Dave is forced into having his photo taken for the staff picture board at IHS. Here is this year's picture. He gets a small package of this photo for free from Lifetouch. I like to tease him that one of these years I'm going to hang all of the 8 X 10s up on the same wall...you know, like a shrine to Dave.

I have included the previous years' photos for your looking enjoyment. Hope you do enjoy!

Go Cougars!

So far the BYU Cougars are undeafted! Their last two games have been complete shutouts! They beat UCLA on 9/13 59 to 0 and yesterday they beat Wyoming 44 to 0! I have to admit that I'm very proud of them, but the games do tend to get boring when the score is so lopsided. In fact, I left at halftime yesterday because it was obvious to me that it would be another shutout and I was sick of sitting in the hot sun. Dave watched the rest of the game by himself. He is a die hard Cougar fan until the end!

We survived!

Last week I had the opportunity of babysitting my niece and nephew for a couple of days. Dave's sister, Ann, and her family are moving to Vancouver, Washington soon and needed to make a quick trip up there to arrange housing for when they officially move. I agreed to watch the kiddos at their house so they could make this 11 hour trip by themselves. Their trip was going to be a short one so it made sense to leave the children behind. We were all a little nervous about how it would go, but I'm happy to report that everything went well. Ella (1) missed her parents, but she did very well for being so young. Nate (4) also missed his parents, but seemed to have a good time. He wasn't a huge fan of his Aunt Holly when I asked him to pick up his toys, but he got over it and was a huge helper. I'm glad I got this opportunity. It was nice to spend some time with those two and also some good practice for the future! Thanks Ann for thinking of me! I'm glad I could help out.

My gem!

This is a note I received in the mail yesterday from Dave's boss (the high school principal). I've been in one of those "moods" lately and this was the perfect solution! I have a GREAT husband and the world seems to think so as well. I'm so proud of him and love him very very very much!

One Last Hoorah!

Our pop-up trailer has to be "winterized" every year so that the pipes don't freeze, etc. We decided this year that instead of popping the trailer up in the parking lot we store it at and winterizing it there that we would instead go camping one last time for the season and winterize it while we were out. We went camping about 30 minutes away from our house up Provo Canyon, but boy was it worth it. We did a whole lot of nothing and it was nice!!!

No Hill For A Climber

Our weather has been perfect this week! It makes me excited for fall. We've had the windows open and have enjoyed the fresh air. A couple of days ago I heard some commotion in our bedroom and went in to investigate. This is what I found...

(sorry the picture is blurry)

He also likes to use the recliner in my "office" to accomplish his task...

He will go to great odds just so that he can see out the windows. He isn't much of a barker, but he will do his little growl if he sees someone/something and get Missy (the Pomeranian) going. She doesn't stop for like 30 mins. if you let her. Annoying!!!

Labor Day Weekend

Even though Dave got sick leading up to Labor Day weekend and wasn't feeling 100% better the entire weekend, I think we both had a great time. Dave's dad's side of the family had their annual reunion this weekend and we actually skipped it because this year we have TICKETS TO BYU FOOTBALL!!! With Dave being a student, he was able to get an All Sports Pass and bought me a Guest Pass. This means we can go to pretty much any home sport game that we want, including football. Ever since we moved out here three summers ago we have talked about getting season tickets to BYU football, but never have done it. We are both excited that things worked out this year that we are able to do this.

So, Saturday was the first game of the season. It was at 4:00 p.m. and it was forecasted to be 100 degrees. Needless to say, the game was hot and miserable. BYU played Northern Iowa. We won 41 to 17!! BYU didn't play their best, but it was their first game and they were still able to pull out a win. By the 3rd quarter clouds had moved in and it cooled things off a little bit. Dave was in heaven the entire time watching his favorite team play. Plus, we have GREAT seats. We're looking forward to an undefeated season!!

For the second half of the weekend Dave's mom, Dorothy, came down from Logan, UT to visit us. We love to have company and were excited that she wanted to come stay with us for a few days. We had planned to go to the Sundance Ski Resort and ride the chair lift up the mountain, but it was rainy. We decided instead to play games and visit Ikea while we waited the storm out. After the storms moved out yesterday we did drive up to Sundance just to see if we could get lucky, but no such luck. They had made the decision earlier in the day to send their lift operators home for the day because of the weather. We walked around and enjoyed the sites and much cooler temps. I think even though our original plans didn't happen, fun was had by all.
