Warm welcome

The bugs in Kansas have given us a very warm welcome. Apparently they love the taste of our Utah blood! Thankfully Miles seems to have been spared from the warm welcome. This is Dave's waistline if you are wondering.

Father's Day Visitors

Zach, Tammy, and Lily came down on Father's Day to spend some time with us before we leave for our big trip to Kansas. It was great to get to spend some time with them. Even though we only live about two hours away from them, we don't get to see them as often as we would like. Lily is growing up fast, just like Miles. I hope these two become good friends!

Miles is a thief! He kept stealing Lily's favorite monkey.

Miles needed a bath and when Lily heard the word bath, she decided she needed one too!

Apparently in all of the years that we have lived here we have never taken Zach and Tammy to the Provo River Trail. We decided to take a stroll and risk getting rained on. By the time we started to head back, it started raining pretty good. Everyone was pretty soaked, but we had a good time. Zach even "rescued" two snails to add to his fish tank.

Misc. fun

Lately Miles has been mimicking our dog, Buddy. He likes to eat things directly off of the table without using his hands. When we go outside if there happens to be any water on the back patio he'll get down on his knees and drink the water off the ground, just like Buddy does. I have to say that although I'm not too excited about this new "thing" it is entertaining and I've had a few good chuckles from watching him do this.

In the last day or two Miles has figured out how to climb up on our TV stand. He loves to watch "movies" (his favorite is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) while I'm working. Yesterday I noticed he was being quiet so I turned to check on him and this was what I found.

Miles loves to run around and dance. I have added a couple of videos below for those of you who care to see him in action. We are enjoying his cute personality and awesome dance moves!

First swim of the summer

About a week ago we took Miles swimming for the first time this season. We went to our favorite pool in Lehi because it is partially indoors and also has lots of fun things for smaller kids to enjoy. Since we've had such a crazy spring, it has been slow to warm up. We thought a partial indoor pool would be more enjoyable, but it was sort of breezy that day which made it chilly. Miles' bottom lip wouldn't stop quivering the entire time we were there. Poor kiddo! I thought he'd run around and splash in the shallow water, but he was glued to whoever was holding him at the time and did not want to let go! I think had it been warmer he probably would've reacted differently. We'll definitely try it again!

He was infatuated with the big bucket that drops water and kept pointing at it and saying, "ready, set, go!"

How we kicked off the summer

Dave is done teaching for the year! Yippee! I couldn't be more excited! For two weeks we'll get to enjoy life with him only working one (part-time) job. He then will start teaching summer school which will only last for two weeks and is only for a few hours a day. It'll be nice to have him around more.

We decided to kick off the summer by going to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City this morning. Since moving to Utah we had yet to visit. Dave says he went as a child, but it was so long ago that he couldn't remember details. Miles loves to see all the animals on his "movies" that he watches so I assumed he'd love the zoo. That kid is easy to please. Give him the opportunity to run around and explore new things and he is as happy as a lark!

My mom asked me if there was anything in particular that he liked and I couldn't think of something that stood out. I think he just enjoyed seeing everything. We rode the train and he loved that. He loves to say, "choo choo" when he hears the train in our neighborhood so it was fun for him to get to ride on one. We also had perfect timing in seeing the elephant show. We got to see the baby elephant, Zuri. She is 2 years old and is dang cute!

We were only there for a few hours, trying to squeeze it all in before nap-time. I think we managed to see almost everything. We also couldn't leave without getting him a souvenir. As a child I had a stuffed polar bear as a souvenir from a zoo trip. Miles picked out a stuffed giraffe. We also scored big because they were 50% off. Yea for mom and dad!
