Our Summer ~ Part 2

On July 1st, Miles started two weeks of swimming lessons. The first week he did great and seemed to love every minute of it. The second week didn't go as smoothly. Dave kept saying it was as if over the weekend he forgot how much he loves to swim. He refused to get in at all one day and would wait until almost the end of class to get in a couple of days. Dave finally figured out that if he would sit him on the edge of the pool and let his feet dangle in the water, that he'd decide to get in after only a few minutes. Huge improvement over what he had been doing. I think Miles also had a favorite teacher picked out the first week and she didn't return to second week so that might've thrown him off too. He did pick up a lot from class and became pretty independent in the water. He loves having the life jacket on too so he can go in the deep end without holding on to mom or dad.

Our Summer ~ Part 1

I can't believe I've let myself get so far behind on this blog! Our entire summer is missing and that makes me really sad. We've had a nice summer and it's hard to believe it's already over! I highly doubt I'll get the entire summer into one post so stay tuned. Hopefully there will be more summer posts coming shortly after this one (but we are moving again to another state so be patient with me).

After we got back from our trip to Utah at the beginning of the summer, Dave started basketball camp at Kapaun. I think he thoroughly enjoyed being apart of that. Miles was sad that he didn't have Dad around all of the time, but he survived.

On June 21st, Miles got to see his first movie on the big screen at the local theater. I originally wanted to wait to take him to his first movie in August when Planes came out, but when Monsters University came out we decided to go ahead and give it a try. He did really well. I was so worried he'd lose interest, be too loud for those around us, or be scared by the movie, but that wasn't the case. He had a great time. My mom and brother joined us for this first in Miles' life. Now he's asking if we can go see Planes.
He loved having his own little snack tray!
I was laughing so hard at the way Miles was playing this game at the movie theater arcade

With our move from Utah to Kansas I fell behind on getting Miles to the dentist. He is such an active little guy and very opinionated that I wanted to find a good dentist who specialized in kids so that Miles would have a good experience. Based on a recommendation from a high school friend, we made Miles an appointment in June and Miles had a wonderful time. So far we are doing good at providing him positive experiences with the dentist. Yeah!

Watching a movie
At the end of June we made a weekend trip to my aunt and uncle's new house in Missouri. They built a beautiful house on a lake. We had seen it a couple of times during the building process, but were so excited to see it finished and with their things inside. It is gorgeous! We had such a nice weekend relaxing by the lake and enjoying the beautiful views. Miles even got to go fishing for the first time in his life. Dave and I are not fishers so I'm glad my uncle was willing to teach Miles a thing or two about it. Miles had a blast watching/helping Uncle George catch and release several fish.

And that gets us through June...
