Field of Dreams Theory

"If you build it, they will come"

Although in the beginning of our adoption process I told myself that we would not start collecting baby supplies until we had been picked by a birth mom, I've since changed my mind. Oftentimes in our church we are asked to be prepared so we decided why not be prepared when it comes to this issue in our life as well. I thought it might be too hard on me to have baby supplies around, but so far I'm enjoying our new crib! We figured that it wouldn't hurt anything to slowly gather different items such as a crib, car seat, stroller, etc. These type of items aren't cheap either so it'll be nice to spread the expense out over several months.

I think we might wait to get the crib bedding and to paint the walls in the nursery, but I might get too anxious and change my mind on that too. I could always go with a "theme/color" that is neutral for a boy or a girl. We'll see.

Just thought I'd share in our exciting purchase! It was weird to set it up, but very exciting to think about the possibility of having a little one sleep in it!

Bowling

Earlier in the week we decided to go bowling. We haven't been bowling in about two years. It is hard to believe that it has been that long because I love to go bowling. So far it is the only thing that I've found that I can actually beat my husband at!!! Dave is pretty competitive and is good at everything he does...it makes me sick sometimes. Bowling is a different story though for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that good of a bowler...I just happen to be better at it than Dave. We went with our neighbors this time and I won with a score of 109. Dave & Michelle tied for 2nd place with a score of 94. It is unusual for Dave not to at least get 100...he is out of practice I guess! These pics and video were taken with our cell phones so they aren't the greatest quality.

The lion and the lamb

We did not get another dog, don't worry! The dog on the left is our neighbors' dog Jake. He comes over to "play" with Buddy quite often and 99% of the time we have to put Missy upstairs in her kennel. For those who know Missy, you know why we do this. For those who do not know Missy let's just say she isn't a big fan of other dogs. We watched Jake for our neighbors Friday night and decided we would give Missy another opportunity to be friends with Jake. She stayed right by my side the entire time. After a while Buddy decided to join Missy on my lap. A few more minutes passed and Jake decided to join the crowd. I couldn't believe that Dave was able to get a picture of this monumental occasion! Missy was within a foot or two of Jake and wasn't even growling...AMAZING!!!

Because we care...

Valentine's Day was super nice! I can't remember Valentine's Day falling on a Saturday in a long time, if ever in our marriage??? It was nice to spend the entire day together just doing what we wanted to do. We did some shopping, ate some good food and watched a nice movie. AND we got great gifts from each other!!! Early in our marriage I used to do fun things like decorate our house so when Dave came home from work or school he was completely surprised. I have to admit that I've slacked in that department for quite some time and thought it would be fun to bring back that tradition this Valentine's Day.

Did you watch the last two episodes of The Office? If so this might look familiar. Dave got a good laugh out of Jim & Dwight's decorations for Kelly's b-day party so I thought it would be funny to follow in their foot steps for our dinning room decorations!

Dave can now play golf with his brothers...in fact their first game together is in 10 mins.

I attempted to make chocolate truffles. They're not very pretty, but they sure do taste good!

Dave wrote me a VERY nice 3 page letter! I won't bother you with the details, but let's just say that it made me cry (in a good way). What a GREAT husband I have!!!

Gorgeous roses for ME!

Great minds think alike...I made him truffles and he bought me truffles! We have tons of truffles around here and because of our diet we had to share the goods with our neighbors.

Early?

Does it seem early to you that we found this surprise in our flower garden this week? Especially since that white stuff in the picture is SNOW...that we got this morning and it is 31 degrees outside??? Seems awfully early to me!

The Big Bang Theory

About the show:
"Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of 'beautiful minds' that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow CalTech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. However, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities... including love."

Dave and I LOVE this show! We look forward to watching this sitcom together every Monday night. We've had some really good laughs while watching...the good for your soul kind of laughs. We've tried to get others hooked on it, but haven't been real successful in the past. Our recommendation is to try it, you might like it. If not, then we won't be offended because we still love it anyway! Sheldon is by far our favorite character. He has some great lines!

Super Bowl Party

We had a small Super Bowl party last night. Dave has wanted to host a Super Bowl party since he got his flat screen T.V. last year, but I wouldn't let him host the party last year because my mom was in town and we found out that weekend that our second attempt at IVF didn't work so I wasn't in a party hosting mood! I'm glad he was able to host the party this year. We had a good time. Thankfully Michelle was there to keep me company! I didn't really care what team won, but Dave's brother Zach is a huge Steelers fan so he was a happy camper at the end of the night.

All of the goodies!

Dave & Zach discussing the game (they had a hard time sitting down because they were too excited)

Wes grilling up some dogs

Michelle playing Sudoku (the game wasn't as exciting to her)

Buddy waiting for any piece of food to fall on the ground
