Can you believe it's almost the end of July? The summer will be gone before we know it. Life has been crazy so again, I'm behind on the blog. Not a surprise I'm sure. Even though I'm exhausted, I'm taking advantage of this quiet time that I have to do our June post.
On our way home from Kansas, I got a call from the United Way of Utah County. I had a phone interview with them while we were in Kansas. They were calling me to offer me a job. I was a little disappointed because I wanted our relaxing summer to continue, but knew that if I turned it down my unemployment would end so I reluctantly took the job. After talking with my soon-to-be boss a bit about my reservations, she made me feel much better about the job stating that they would allow me to work from home for some of my 29 hours a week that I'd be required to work. She too would be working from home some so she wanted to offer me that opportunity as well. She is a very positive and upbeat person so she calmed my fears. She did ask that if it was at all possible that we move up our move date so that I could start on July 14th. We had the moving truck reserved for July 19th so we'd have to make some changes.
With this news, we sort of revved up our packing process. We still had plenty of time, but there were several things we wanted to go through and get rid of in the process. We moved our moving date up to July 9th hoping that would give us enough time to get unloaded in Provo before heading off to Vegas for a NKOTB concert on July 12th. But, all of July is for another post!
Even though we were busy packing, I wanted to provide some summer fun activities for Miles. On June 12th we checked out a new-to-us park in Grand Junction. Miles had a lot of fun and, of course, didn't want to leave.

Father's Day was very low-key this year. Poor Dave! I did ask Miles some questions about his dad (his answers were so cute) and made a little printout with his answers on it, but that is about all we did. June was just a busy month and lately I've been slacking in my responsibilities like remembering Father's Day and birthdays, etc. I hope Dave knows how much we all appreciate him and everything he does for our family! He is a GREAT father!
On June 24th we attempted to go camping up on the mesa. I say attempted because at 1 a.m. we found ourselves loading up some of our stuff and heading for our house. Miles had a blast camping, but Oliver wasn't such a fan. The mosquitoes were horrible so we spent a big portion of our time either in our vehicle or in the tent. I've never seen so many mosquitoes in my life! We did manage to work in the normal camping stuff; hotdogs for dinner, s'mores for dessert, a hike in the mountains, etc. Oliver took a nap in the tent when we first got there, but when it was time for bed he had no desire to sleep (at least not for any length of time). He'd finally fall asleep and then would wake up 20-30 minutes later screaming. I guess the different environment was enough to disrupt his sleep. By 1 a.m. we were exhausted and felt bad for our neighbors so we woke Miles up and went home. The next morning Miles and Dave drove back to our campsite to load the rest of our stuff up while I stayed at home with Oliver and let him sleep.

The rest of June was spent packing and getting ready for the big move back to Utah. What a process...one that neither of us enjoy and hope to avoid again for a while!
