11 months old

Whew! Time flies when you have a little one. He is now a month shy of a year old (11 months for those struggling with the math). He keeps us busy and entertained and is still just as happy as a lark.

Developmentally, he made a few more huge strides (literally) this past month.
  1. He took the plunge and started walking shortly after his 10 month day. He is pretty good at it and loves to walk all over the place in our house. He is addicted and rarely crawls anymore now that he has discovered his inherent abilities.
  2. He says a few things discriminately now. His favorite most identifiable word is three. Of course it isn't always sounding like 3, but close enough. This usually happens after we start him out with a 1, 2,...
  3. Other things he is saying is mamama and dadada and we are now convinced he knows he is talking about us. He also says dog. Unfortunately, there isn't a written baby language, so I can't write it how it sounds. Just trust that it is just the cutest darn thing ever.
  4. He is up to 6 teeth now. He now has both top front teeth and the ones proximal to the front teeth. Now more than ever, we have to remove our flesh out of his way when he chomps down.
  5. He continues to like regular food and wants to eat what we are eating when we are eating it. He is also starting to show some preferences for some foods over others. We did a test and validated that hypothesis. Goldfish trumps puffs which trump cheerios with a 90% success rate.
  6. He also likes to dance to songs or just to dead air. His signature move is the hip and bum shake. Sometimes he gets the whole body moving and has to hold on to something. Would love to post a video of it, but the Milester is elusive when it comes time to perform in front of the camera.
He continues to make us smile and laugh with his beautiful personality. He is good at entertaining himself and us with the things he does. We love him to pieces.

So proud

It's official! Dave is now a Master of Science in Biological Science Education from Brigham Young University. I couldn't be more proud of him and this huge accomplishment. I can only imagine how hard it was to get his masters while working full-time and on top of that we had the wonderful addition to our family of a perfect baby last fall! Makes me tired just thinking about all he went through.

We like to have big events in our family on "interesting" days it seems like lately. Miles became ours officially on April Fools' and we were sealed together as a family that day and Dave graduated on Friday the 13th. Pretty funny if you ask me.

We had a small party the night before his graduation to celebrate the glorious occasion

Summer graduation = Short and sweet

Yea! He did it (we all look a little tired)!!!

Proud momma/grandma

Two of Dave's siblings flew in for the occasion - we finally got to meet Baby Milla, what a cutie!!!

Aunt Ann finally got to meet Miles and fell in love instantly! It was so nice to see her again, it has been too long (I think you need to move back to Utah versus us moving out there, wink wink!)!

Worst. Camping. Ever.

Although I had a great birthday and enjoyed spending it with my family, I have to say that the way in which we chose to celebrate it was ruined by a few RUDE people! On July 31st we took the short drive up Provo Canyon to Alpine Loop to do one night of camping in honor of my birthday. By 11:30 p.m. Miles and I were on our way back to the house. We had some "neighbors" at the campground that were completely wasted and very disrespectful of those around them. Miles had a very hard time falling asleep because of all of the noise and when he finally did fall asleep he was awakened a short time later to their loud laughter. By 11:30 p.m. I just couldn't take it anymore and headed home with him while Dave and my mom stayed behind. One of the drunk girls also had the nerve after I left to say something like, "Good, she's taking the baby home. Who takes a baby camping?" I'm sure it took everything Dave had to not jump out of his tent and give them a what for. When Miles woke up the next morning we went back up to the campground to have breakfast and do some sight seeing. It turned out to be a very nice birthday although I'm not too excited about celebrating them anymore...I don't wanna grow up!

We had to improvise with his high chair and carefully balanced it on a camp chair

Dave making me b-day brownies in our nifty new camp stove/oven!

I wasn't quite sure how he would feel about being "stuck" in his play pin, but he had a blast walking around in it and trying to climb out of it

My interesting birthday brownies (probably should've followed the high altitude recipe) decorated by the lovely artist aka Dave

*Not one picture was taken of me on my birthday because I'm always the one with the camera.
