Shedding Pounds

I'm happy to report that I've lost 14.2 pounds since the middle of January and Dave has lost 22 pounds! Dave and I decided back in January that we both needed to lose weight and get in shape! We've spent too much time eating what we want and not getting enough, if any, exercise. So, we decided to join Weight Watchers. We've done Weight Watchers in the past and were successful with it, but with several different moves and me doing infertility treatments the pounds have added back up. So it was time to take a stand!

We do the online version of Weight Watchers and find it very easy and helpful. We've also been testing several of the recipes on their site and so far have enjoyed almost all of them. I love Weight Watchers because it doesn't necessarily limit what you can eat. You can still have that huge juicy hamburger, just know that when you eat it your daily points will most likely be gone. It teaches you how to make better food decisions and also the importance of exercise.

These are a few of the things we have found helpful while on our new diet.

This soup is amazing! You can get 0 or 1 point options and they taste so good!

Dave and I are huge snackers and these things hit the spot (Hostess 100 calorie treats)! The Chocolate Cupcakes are only 1 point and are by far our favorite!

In the last week I've started doing Jillian Michaels' metabolism boost workout on Exercise TV. She is on the Biggest Loser if you've never heard of her before. Her workouts are INTENSE, but definitely do the job!

Am I nuts or what?

In about 64 days I will be boarding a ship with a couple thousand women and five guys heading to the Bahamas! These five guys are better known as the New Kids On The Block! Call me crazy! After months of discussion between Dave and I we decided that I should jump on this once in a lifetime opportunity and go have fun for 4 days. I'm taking this trip in honor of my 30th birthday which will happen this summer and hopefully as my one last hoorah before becoming a mother! The cruise ticket and plane ticket to Miami were purchased this week and I can't express how excited I am to go...even if you think I'm nuts for doing this!

Annual Ski Trip

Last weekend we had the opportunity of going skiing with my aunt and uncle! They have a timeshare at the Powder Mountain Ski Resort by Ogden, UT. For the last three years they have invited us up there to go skiing with them. Although we are still novice skiers, we enjoy it very much and are getting better and better. This year we even willing went down a couple of blue runs and had a blast. Typically I prefer to stick to the green runs, but one of those blue runs really is a lot of fun. I find myself doing the snowplow a lot, but one of these days I'll feel confident to learn how to really ski!

We had perfect weather both days. There was only one "incident" where we listened to my uncle's advice and ended up on an ungroomed blue run. There were two drop offs on that run that I just could not force myself to go down. My uncle found an alternate route for the four of us to go down instead. It ended up working out all right, but it wasn't as enjoyable because I was focusing on not falling flat on my face! Overall we had a GREAT time and are so thankful that my aunt and uncle invite us to go every year!

Field of Dreams Theory

"If you build it, they will come"

Although in the beginning of our adoption process I told myself that we would not start collecting baby supplies until we had been picked by a birth mom, I've since changed my mind. Oftentimes in our church we are asked to be prepared so we decided why not be prepared when it comes to this issue in our life as well. I thought it might be too hard on me to have baby supplies around, but so far I'm enjoying our new crib! We figured that it wouldn't hurt anything to slowly gather different items such as a crib, car seat, stroller, etc. These type of items aren't cheap either so it'll be nice to spread the expense out over several months.

I think we might wait to get the crib bedding and to paint the walls in the nursery, but I might get too anxious and change my mind on that too. I could always go with a "theme/color" that is neutral for a boy or a girl. We'll see.

Just thought I'd share in our exciting purchase! It was weird to set it up, but very exciting to think about the possibility of having a little one sleep in it!

Bowling

Earlier in the week we decided to go bowling. We haven't been bowling in about two years. It is hard to believe that it has been that long because I love to go bowling. So far it is the only thing that I've found that I can actually beat my husband at!!! Dave is pretty competitive and is good at everything he does...it makes me sick sometimes. Bowling is a different story though for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that good of a bowler...I just happen to be better at it than Dave. We went with our neighbors this time and I won with a score of 109. Dave & Michelle tied for 2nd place with a score of 94. It is unusual for Dave not to at least get 100...he is out of practice I guess! These pics and video were taken with our cell phones so they aren't the greatest quality.

The lion and the lamb

We did not get another dog, don't worry! The dog on the left is our neighbors' dog Jake. He comes over to "play" with Buddy quite often and 99% of the time we have to put Missy upstairs in her kennel. For those who know Missy, you know why we do this. For those who do not know Missy let's just say she isn't a big fan of other dogs. We watched Jake for our neighbors Friday night and decided we would give Missy another opportunity to be friends with Jake. She stayed right by my side the entire time. After a while Buddy decided to join Missy on my lap. A few more minutes passed and Jake decided to join the crowd. I couldn't believe that Dave was able to get a picture of this monumental occasion! Missy was within a foot or two of Jake and wasn't even growling...AMAZING!!!
