Christmas morning, but not really

A little background information...my mom decided a week or two before Christmas that she wanted to move back to Kansas. The deal she had with my brother for him to buy her house in KS fell through so she decided she wanted to reclaim it and move back "home." She realized by being out here renting that she missed being a home owner and also that she missed her house. We are all sad about the decision, but know she had to do what she had to do and we'll all make an effort to get back and forth from Utah to Kansas as much as possible so Miles doesn't forget her

My mom asked for our help in moving her back. Dave had already agreed to work at Target over the holidays, so Miles and I went alone. Dave's mom was nice enough to come down from Logan to spend the week with Dave while we were away so he wouldn't be alone.

Because of the trip to Kansas and the timing of it all (I wanted to make it back in time to go to church at our old church so everyone could meet Miles and I also wanted to attend a funeral while there) we pretended Christmas Day was the 24th. We had our traditional Christmas breakfast and opened presents before my mom, me, and Miles headed off for Kansas around 12:30 p.m. on 12/24. After we left Dave drove up to Tremonton and spent the weekend at his brother's house.

and the best part...it has parent handles!!!

After the festivities were over, we loaded up and headed out for Kansas. We made it to Ft. Collins the first night. Around Laramie we hit some pretty dense fog so we were beyond ready to get in our hotel room that night. Miles had a rough time falling asleep in the hotel, but eventually did and slept the rest of the night. We got up on the real Christmas Day and made it the rest of the way. Traveling on Christmas Day was not the greatest idea I've ever had. I didn't even think about the fact that no food places would be open. We had the privilege of eating gas station food all day! Ugh! But, we made it back in time to have a good night's sleep before we went to church on Sunday morning.
